Job Description

AECOM is looking for a Senior Ecologist to support their Virginia Office to support environmental remediation projects with industrial clients.

Responsibilities

Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

Extensive experience in the application of field and laboratory investigative techniques to the study of birds in the wild.

Extensive experience with avian sampling, specifically mist netting and blood sampling.

Knowledge of environmental data collection, investigation, and interpretation.

Provide mentoring, guidance and coaching to new or less experienced staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Position will require MVR, Drug screen and Background screen

U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred degree in Biology, Zoology or closely related field

Working knowledge of habitats, behavior, and systematics of birds and mammals.

Ability to identify most woodland and open field bird species of eastern North America by sight and sound.

High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.

Position requires field work, which involves work in rugged terrain and inclement weather conditions.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is 35.00 to 62.45.
