Purpose:
The Senior Software Developer builds and maintains applications, working directly with technical staff to identify and implement custom development technology projects to improve profitability through higher performance, greater operational efficiencies, and streamlined workflows. The incumbent will work closely with our derivative, risk, and investment accounting teams to integrate best practices in the development of analytical tools and processes. Understanding of CI/CD and cloud platform (AWS) is critical. Experience in ALIP annuity platform is a plus. This role is 100% hands-on tech.
Accountabilities:
Partner closely with the software development team to design, develop, and maintain web applications.
Work extensively with large data sets and can optimize and build efficient data models and SQL queries for performance.
Resolves sophisticated software issues across multiple software applications.
Independently documents own code and produces technical design documentation.
Designs, codes, and tests all sizes of application solutions independently or as part of a team.
Effectively communicates and documents the application architecture, applying industry standards as part of a team.
Cascades expectations aligned to department goals.
Communicates and presents to the team, management, and partners.
Ensures team adherence to internal policies and procedures (standards, controls, and metrics).
Demonstrates understanding of various groups within organization and IT utilization of each.
Creates and maintains an effective working relationship between users and IT.
Mentors team members on application design and development.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in MIS, CIS or related field or equivalent work experience required. Military experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
5+ years of application development experience using Java and Python. Relational database experience with PostgreSQL.
Experience with cloud technologies Azure/AWS preferred.
Experience in the financial services industry along with a basic understanding of annuity concepts is a plus. Experience in ALIP Annuity platform is a plus.
SOAP, REST, MQ, JavaScript and Docker experience preferred.
$138,480.00 - $207,720.00 USD Annual
Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
