About Senior Corporate Counsel - General Liability Litigation

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESManage general liability litigation mattersNegotiate, edit, review, and draft pleadings, briefs, correspondence, and agreementsAnalyze contracts and impact on litigationParticipate in the hiring and directing of outside legal counsel, including their management of TrueBlue legal proceedings to ensure the best interests of the company are protectedConsider and prepare case strategies, document discovery, case budgets, timelines, and risk assessments.Interview internal witnessesReview and assess outside counsel billsParticipate or manage legal proceedings involving the company, including administrative proceedings, negotiations and arbitrations.Implement litigation management strategies that impact overall company resultsContribute to insourcing legal resources and reduction of spendPromote a culture that values and promotes collaboration between all stakeholders and business partnersRepresent TrueBlue and its Brands to stakeholders. Confer with various business lines regarding litigation matters and impact on business.Identify and resolve pre-litigation risks and prepare risk assessments.Work with attorneys in other legal segments (i.e., compliance, commercial, employment) to proactively identify and address key legal issues for managementQUALIFICATIONSJuris Doctor and current admission in US jurisdictions5+ years of related litigation experience with a firm or as in-house counsel.Subject matter expert knowledge, including litigation experience in one of more of the following areas: tort, insurance coverage, commercial litigation, contract disputes, appellate law, employmentProven experience working closely with business unit leaders and internal stakeholdersAbility to see the bigger picture to determine effective case strategiesDemonstrated risk assessment skillsExperience in managing people and effectively communicating within a corporate environmentStrong legal writing skillsAbility to work independently, make decisions, and exercise independent judgment to the extent appropriateStrong team leadership skills, including in coaching and mentoring and in working on cross-functional projects.Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with a diverse employee population.Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and presentation experience.Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently and meet deadlines under pressure.Strong analytical skills.Detail oriented and well organized.Significant mediation experienceEffective in interpreting laws, rulings, and regulationsAbility to analyze new and existing laws and regulations and relate those laws to operational procedures, company policies, and industry trendsStrong consultative approach to advising and guiding the business in achieving standards and operational excellenceSuperior interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently in completing assignments promptly and thoughtfullyExcellent judgment and high ethical standardsStrong project and time management skillsActively and consistently support the Company's business effortsEqually effective as a leader and team memberProficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook; Westlaw; TeamsTravel estimated at 10-15%We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other characteristic protected by law.The salary for this position is anticipated to range between $115,000 - $145,000 per year.
