The primary role of the ADL Senior Actuarial Leader is to provide analytics and solutions for our clients' complex needs, provide subject matter expertise to internal client teams, development and maintenance of actuarial models and participate in industry appropriate committees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide actuarial and subject matter expertise to Underwriting client teams based on various practice needs surrounding all product aspects of Absence, Disability and Life.Partner with Underwriting Director and team to provide training / support based on practice and individual needs.Partner with client teams to address complex actuarial needs of our clients including;Building and Assessing strategies to meet new legislative requirements in the ADL spaceValuation expertise including but not limited to STD IBNR, LTD Case Reserves, Retiree Life, etc.Develop & conduct long term data studies to support client insights and innovation for various benefit programs.Construction of new client-specific models to address unique needsResults of the above needs to be presented to clients with varying levels of complexity based on the stakeholders in attendance. These conversation can take place in person with the client.Work with industry partners to further the understanding and improve the availability of data needed to perform actuarial work in the ADL space.Work with ADL leaders to assess, modify and enhance our tools.Act as fiduciary signer for ADL captive business as appropriate.Evolve our actuarial thought leadership to better serve our clients and internal colleagues.Review the data analyses that are conducted by junior staff members to ensure actuarial soundness, correct use of models or products, and to assist in the development of junior staff members.Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent work experienceFellow of the Society of ActuariesMinimum 10 years of Actuarial experience in Absence, Disability and Life Consulting IndustryExperience with the following products: Absence (PTO, Leave, Illness, etc), Short and Long Term Disability, Life Insurance.Working in a matrixed environment with competing with various prioritiesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have ability to work in a team environment and appropriately prioritize your time across multiple projects.Must have computer skills proficiency and experience with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).Outstanding analytical, math and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, strong decision-making ability, confidence to make difficult decisions and excellent communication skillsMust have exception technical computer skills; including but not limited Excel, Access, VBA, Power BI, SQL and working knowledge of Actuarial software.Must be organized, detail oriented and able to translate big picture ideas into client objectivesMust have strong negotiation and persuasion skillsPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
