Description We are recruiting a Senior Accountant to join our team in Austin, Texas. This role is centred around lease accounting transactions, balance sheet account reconciliations, and maintaining compliance with GAAP. The Senior Accountant will also collaborate with external auditors and other finance professionals, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee lease accounting transactions, including those for lease terminations and modifications.
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries for the month-end close.
• Communicate proactively with property managers and asset managers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of property financials and upcoming changes.
• Review monthly property trial balances, map general ledger accounts, and record account activity in the general ledger.
• Examine fixed asset purchases for proper capitalization and approval.
• Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process, reviewing and analyzing budget information, and coordinating explanations of budget variances.
• Prepare footnote schedules to support accounting disclosure requirements for the Company’s filings.
• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP.
• Increase productivity by developing automated applications, eliminating duplications, and coordinating information requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and other accounting and finance related professionals. Requirements • Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations
• Demonstrated experience in General Ledger management and Journal Entries
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Month End Close processes
• Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP systems
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA certification is highly desirable
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
