Summary The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) is the lead medical biological defense research laboratory for the DOD Chemical Biological Defense Program. Responsibilities Conduct foot patrol of the perimeter and interior of facility structures. Conduct vehicle searches/inspections (to include, cargo areas, engine compartments and under carriages), in accordance with standing operating procedures. Protect personnel, visitors, critical components, and systems of a research facility from all threats. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Experience working with other organizations and entities to quickly resolve security concerns; (2) Experience interacting with the public, giving directions and responding to inquiries concerning access to a restricted facility; AND (3) Experience identifying and preventing unauthorized contraband and access. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (DK-01/GS-04). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Access Control Operations Incident Response Physical Security Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
