To provide academic instruction on fundamental Air Force doctrine, practical leadership experience, and extensive field training emphasizing physical fitness and officership to prepare future officers for active duty as Second Lieutenants into the United States Air Force. Our Central Washington University's Air Force ROTC Detachment 895 is one of 35 Detachments in the Northwest Region (a total of 147 Detachment nationwide). Per the Educational In-Service Agreement between Central Washington University and Air Force, the University must provide administrative support, a facility for the program, and financial resources for operating.The Secretary Senior position is the only Classified-Civil Service Employee provided by the State of Washington among six Federal Employees, all Active-Duty Air Force Officers on Special-Duty assignments with Air Force ROTC, which AF personnel rotate every two to three years. This position's primary purpose is to facilitate the overall office management and university coordination for the Air Force ROTC program. The Secretary Senior position provides information, counsel, secretarial/administrative assistance, coordination and advocacy to cadre and cadet corps through extensive knowledge of the university and departmental policies and procedures, along with Air Force regulations, guidelines, requirements, and standards. The position reports to the Department Chair of Aerospace Studies & Detachment 895 Commander and uniquely functions as the liaison between Central Washington University and the Air Force.
