UPMC Somerset is looking for a full-time Scheduling Specialist to join their team in in the Same Day Services department. This full-time position will work four 10-hour variable shifts. The Scheduling Specialist coordinates, adjusts and communicates staffing needs and changes based on established patient care standards and approved staffing policies.
Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationship with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors and others.
Operate the nursing management computer program to provide current statistical information.
Ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
Process and file requisitions, schedules and computer sheets.
Ensure daily staffing adjustments which are based on established patient acuity criteria.
Communicate staffing changes to the Unit Coordinator, Shift Supervisor and Vice President, Patient Services.
Coordinate and ensure Health Unit Coordinator coverage for all units.
Enter required statistics and information into the computer.
Ensure the nursing time schedules are posted every 4 weeks.
High school graduate or GED.
2 years office experience required.
Courses in typing, transcribing and computer skills preferred.
2 year business college preferred.
Staffing/scheduling experience/understanding preferred.
Previous experience with insurance authorizations preferred.
