In this position, you will serve as the Safe and Supportive Schools Specialist in the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Center. The EDI Center‘s mission is to advance the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion to create the conditions for building authentic cross-cultural communities where harm is eliminated and every person‘s humanity is acknowledged and valued.
In this position, you will provide educational leadership, program development, training, consultation, and resources to support school leaders, teachers, and student support staff to ensure compliance with the Safe and Supportive Minnesota Schools Act, Minnesota Statute section 121A.031, including malicious and sadistic conduct policies for school boards and active shooter drills to guide school districts, charter schools, administrators, and educators.
In addition, you will be responsible for:
Leading and managing the Safe and Supportive Minnesota Schools Act complaint process from initial intake to resolution with culturally responsive methods that amplify the voice of students, parents, and educators and promotes positive social, emotional and behavioral skills;
Complete investigations for formal complaints of noncompliance with the school bullying prohibition policy and/or the Safe and Supportive Minnesota Schools Act.
Minimum Qualifications
5 years of professional experience leading and conducting K-12 investigations
OR
A bachelor‘s or master‘s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field and 4 years of professional experience leading and conducting K-12 investigations
Experience must include:
Complaint intake and resolution via phone and email
Developing and facilitating professional development for leaders and educators
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting mental health programs in or for educational settings
Experience coaching and/or mentoring leaders and educators to increase effectiveness
Experience with evidence-based and equity-focused practices
Experience supporting the Safe and Supportive Minnesota Schools Act policies and/or procedures
Community engagement with diverse populations experience
