　　Position Summary:

　　Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assignedshift. Determinesstaffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patientacuityand work/patient flow. Providesdirect patient care as needed. Floats between staff toassistwith problem-solving. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care andidentifiesany issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Responds to complaints about patient care and relatedservices, andmanages through established channels. Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers. Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols. 　　Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing. Previousexperience in acute care hospital setting preferred. Requirements will include successful completion oforientation checklist, pharmacology exam, and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific unit. Requires critical thinking skills, decisivejudgmentand the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able towork in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice. Ability to accept responsibilityand accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units asrequiredwithleadership qualities. Requires the cognitive ability and practical ability toprovidenursing careappropriate tothepatient population assigned, considering patient age, growth and development, and diagnosis with fullimplementation of the nursing process to include Assessment/Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning,Implementation, and Evaluation. Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients and/or equipment,manual and fingerdexterityand eye hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extensive period of time. May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. May require frequent bending,squattingandkneeling. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
