The RETAIN Program Manager promotes and implementsstay-at-work/return-to-work (SAW/RTW)
strategies for injured/ill workers and job seekers. SAW/RTW strategiessucceed when injured/ill
workers are returned to productive work as soon as medically possible.Close collaboration between
workers, employers, healthcare providers and workforce development staffis vital to this process.
The RETAIN Program Manager is responsible for the oversight of dailyoperations and the training
and development of HWI RETAIN program and staff. This position worksdirectly with Healthcare
System Partner leadership to implement workforce and healthcare relatedservices to enrolled
participants. This position also works directly with Local Area IIbusinesses to assist in identifying
employees who may be eligible for and benefit from the servicesavailable through RETAIN. This
position will build and maintain relationships with businesses toidentify vendor potential for
supportive services and workplace accommodations to assist with theRETAIN programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Otherduties may be assigned.
1. Provide primary oversight and daily operations of HWI RETAINprograms/grants and services
2. Develop and maintain all required technical assistance forcompliance with the program
3. In partnership with the HWI Leadership Team, monitors all integratedprocesses, tools,
functions and measures outcomes developing corrective actions whennecessary
4. Provide effective leadership for the program team, including directsupervision, training,
service coordination, professional development and service delivery
5. Coordinate with Healthcare Partner Leads to ensure the effectiveenrollment and case
management of program participants
6. Review and approve enrollment, initial paperwork and requisitions offunding for program
participants
7. Work in conjunction with program team to draft and submit monthly,quarterly, annual and
final reports by deadline due date
8. Ensure compliance within the regulations of the program
9. Communicate with business and industry to assess workforce needs andpromote retaining
injured/ill workers, both with current employer customers as well asbuilding relationships with
new business contacts, throughout the Local Area
10. Oversee training of RETAIN staff
11. Develop and maintain a collaborative and continuous analysis of theprograms workflow, data
systems and processes and make recommended changes for continuousimprovement to HWI
Executive Director and HWI Senior Operations Director
12. Have an awareness of job leads in the service area to assistfront-line RETAIN staff with job
development as needed
13. Read and interpret complex regulations, translating them, aswarranted, and communicate
direction to Heartland Works, Inc. and its staff

14. In conjunction with the leadership team, provide input for internalpolicies and procedures and
other strategic planning for RETAIN programs
15. Internally audit program using various monitoring tools andresolving issues to ensure success
of program
16. Serve as back-up to program staff in meeting participant needs andprogram reporting, that
could include intensive case management
17. Participate in state-level RETAIN Leadership Team meetings andactivities
