Organization Overview

　　The Laboratory of Non-Canonical Modes of Inheritance, led by Dr. Lamia Wahba, studies the inheritance of nongenetic information—supplemental information beyond genomic sequences—which has the potential to explain still-mysterious aspects of phenotypic variability, disease risks, and evolutionary trajectories. Using the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, the Wahba lab seeks to understand the regulation and consequences of nongenetic inheritance.

　　Overview

　　The Research Assistant position will be a combination of lab management duties and scientific research. The latter will involve a mix of bench work and bioinformatics in an effort to further our understanding of how epigenetic marks change across populations of C. elegans.

　　Responsibilities

　　Responsibilities include:

　　Performing molecular biology experiments

　　Bioinformatic analyses for small RNA and transcriptome libraries

　　Working with nematodes, passaging worm stocks for maintenance

　　Ordering supplies and equipment for the lab

　　Performing related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested

　　Qualifications

　　Bachelor's degree is required. A strong bioinformatics/computational background is preferred, as the projects will rely on analyses of transcriptomic data across many strains.
