  Statement of Job:

  The Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time Research Analyst I position with the Data Innovation Project (DIP) and other grant-funded projects within the Institute’s Children, Youth, and Families and Justice Policy Program (CYF-JPP) team.

  The Research Analyst I will work with the Data Innovation Project to support the design and implementation of a number of evaluation and research projects, as well as provide technical assistance to local non-profit organizations on topics related to data collection, visualization, and program evaluation. The position will also work collaboratively with senior program staff from other projects within the Children Youth and Families and Justice Policy Program (CYF-JPP) team to carry out research and evaluation projects.

  The Research Analyst I works individually and in a team environment and participates in the design, development, testing, and ongoing maintenance of the data collection, cleaning, analysis, and reporting that supports applied research and evaluation activities. This position works with project and program staff to assist with the design and implementation of procedures and processes that assure data quality and security, and acts as the liaison to data producers/contributors regarding the collection and tracking of relevant data. This position works with project teams to conduct data collection, entry, and data cleaning/transformation, and analysis and contributes to the development of research designs, work plans, protocols, data products, reports, and briefs.

  This is a grant funded position with a starting annual salary up to $42,000 commensurate with experience.

  Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience.

  Intermediate knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.

  Skills and demonstrated experience using MS Excel for analysis and visualization purposes (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, charts, tables, formatting, etc.).

  Skills and experience creating reports and data visualizations in PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.

  Basic statistical analysis experience and knowledge (descriptives, crosstabs, t-tests, ANOVA).

  Ability to participate in project-related writing and experience writing research reports.

  Strong written and oral communication skills.

  Experience in developing literature reviews.

  Demonstrated organizational, work management, and group process skills, ability to take initiative to identify and propose new tasks and procedures.

  Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
