Overview
TheRehabilitation Aide will transfer and transport patients, and assist in patient care under direct supervision of a licensed clinician within the policies and procedures of the Institute, the departmental program, and in accordance with laws and regulations of the State of Maryland. The Rehabilitation Aide will assist clinical staff in the provision of patient care programs and perform supportive tasks, including those serving the administrative, maintenance and operational needs of the program.
Responsibilities
Prepare, maintain and clean patient treatment areas before and after treatment sessions. Adhere to Institute’s policies regarding patient and staff safety, hygiene, patient privacy and patient-specific and standard/universal precautions.
Assist clinicians to provide support in the practice of therapeutic exercise and functional activities and programs under direct supervision of a PT, OT or COTA, as per Maryland state law.
Arrange therapy materials and assist with creating client centered therapy projects under close guidance of supervising therapist.
Under the direction of supervising therapist, demonstrate ability to set up/clean up and assist during orthotic appointments.
Greet and assist patients during arrival and departure to aid in transitions.
Maintain program supplies for telehealth, toy library, pantry, splinting area, ADL areas and closets, including ordering, inventory control, labeling and storing supplies for all therapy areas. Participate in maintenance, organization, care, cleaning, transport, tracking, scheduling and safe storage of equipment. Identify and correct/report quality control problems, such as removal and coordination of repair of broken equipment, or environmental hazards.
Actively participate in supervisory meetings and assist department to execute tasks related to preparing for regulatory review and performance improvement projects.
Qualifications
Must possess and maintain CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.EDUCATION:
High School Graduate/ GED required
Associates degree preferred
Enrollment in health occupation curriculum, certification, or academic program is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
Experience working with or treating children or adults with developmental or acquired disabilities preferred.
