DescriptionLevel 4 Postpartum unit which provides cares to patients with varying degrees of complications - including low risk to complicated high risk postpartum patients at the UH MacDonald Women's Hospital.Providing physiological and psychosocial care to inpatient mothers and newborns from birth through discharge using a multidisciplinary approach.Mothers and babies are cared for as a couplet following Baby Friendly standards and are assessed for successful transition to the post-partum state. Our Mother and Infant unit provides supportive nursing care to mothers and newborns during this transition with a focus on patient education to assist mothers and families in safely caring for themselves and their newborns post-discharge.We provide care from newborn to age 55.Position SummaryProvides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.Essential FunctionsImplements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship based nursing care.Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.Develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing.Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes.Required For All JobsPerforms other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards.For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
