About Quality Engineer

  POSITION SUMMARYThis position requires a high degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining standards of quality and accuracy. Also supports the quality functions by interfacing with suppliers, performing supplier audits, supporting manufacturing quality, and responding to customer quality concerns.

  ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESSupports, monitors and maintains quality control systemSpecializes in technical problem solving and resourcefulness while working within approved organizational systems and technologyEstablishes quality requirements and flows these requirements to suppliersWorks with suppliers to address quality concerns and supplier quality improvement initiativesWorks with manufacturing to address internal quality concernsIdentifies critical points in the manufacturing process and defines sampling procedureDetermines types of tests to be performed as well as documentation and reporting requirementsPrepares and conducts various quality audits, including supplier, customer and internalManages the relationship with the Metrology vendor and maintains records of calibrationAddresses customer quality concerns by directing CAPA processes and failure analysis on returned hardwareInteracts regularly with engineering, manufacturing and service functions to establish quality standards for raw material, work in process and finished productsCollects and compiles plant quality performance and training dataRecords and reports efforts to eliminate internal and external failuresSupports and leads improvement efforts through data collection, trend analysis, and root cause analysisHelps to support the Document Control processAssists in the creation and updating of written documents and policies according to established procedure and ISO 13485 and 9001 as direct by the Quality Control ManagerSupports Operations and Quality training programsSupport LEAN industrializationAssists in tracking and reporting quality and business metricsAssists in providing various Quality functions such as special testingWear proper personal protective equipment as necessary including but not limited to: eye and hearing protection, safety shoes, lab coats, gloves, dust masks and respiratorsWilling to learn new duties and technology-related skills as requiredMay need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary to ensure customer commitments are met and delivered timely.Other duties as assigned

  QUALIFICATIONSExperience/Background4+ years of experience in a Quality Assurance environment requiredExperience and understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and/or ISO 13485:2016Experience in the use of inspection and testing of mechanical and electronic instrumentsStrong background in statistical methods, GRandR, capability analysis, and Six Sigma Problem Solving techniquesThis position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a U.S. person or protected individual within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines U.S. persons and protected individuals as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), U.S. Temporary Resident, Political Asylee or Refugee.

  SkillsProficiency with CAPA, Root Cause Analysis, PPAP, FAI, APQP, FMEAStrong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and web-browserAbility to learn production processes and machine operations through on-the-job trainingProblem solving skills and the ability to train teams to resolve various issues using available toolsAbility to manage time and prioritize responsibilitiesAble to read and interpr t company documents, such as safety rules, operating/ manufacturing instructions, policies and proceduresExcellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completionMust be highly motivated, self-starter and work as a team playerMust have high levels of attention to detail and quality, be able to multitask and stay organizedMust demonstrate the ability to act professionallyMust be able to occasionally move about in production areas as neededAbility to lift up to 50 pounds

  EducationBachelor's Degree in Engineering or manufacturing related field (or) equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectationsSpecial requirements, skills, licenses, certificates or certifications preferred: ASQ Certification, Six Sigma Green Belt, LeanManufacturing and 5S, Microsoft Project

  ENVIRONMENTAL and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSManufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements:Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each workday doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. May have possible exposure to dust and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds.
