2nd Shift, 2pm to 10 pm or 3pm to 11pm, Monday-Friday (some Saturdays based on company needs)
3rd Shift, 10 pm - 6 am or 11pm - 7am, Monday-Friday (some Saturdays based on company needs)
QA Technicians are responsible for ensuring that ingredients and finished food products complies with all safety and quality specifications and that they follow SQF, USDA Meat and Poultry, FDA Seafood and FDA HARPC requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Oversee loading of trucks whenever necessary
· Receiving of ingredients and packaging
· Freezer checks conducted on an hourly basis
· Monitor potato cook and pasta cook
· Conduct pre-operational inspections of all production areas whenever shifts end
· Conducts plant temperature checks every 4 hours
· Conducts metal detector checks every 2 hours and verifies code dates, condition of containers, etc. on boxing lines
· Sanitizer level checks
· Conduct monthly facility inspections
· Monitor expired ingredients whenever necessary
· Taste and evaluate batch samples
· Maintain sample retention library (frozen and refrigerated products)
· Finished product weight checks
· ATP swabbing
· Ensure proper storage procedures are followed (allergens, proper closure) in the warehouse
· GMP monitoring
· Troubleshoot problems whenever they occur
· Calibrates thermometers and scales
· Monitor thawing and ingredient "use by dates"
· Follow up on sanitation and maintenance work order requests by inspecting equipment or area
· Assist in reviewing daily paperwork
· Maintain records of temperature checks (print out Wi-Fi graphs, charts from recorders)
· Quarterly glass/brittle plastic audit
· Oversee transfer of product between facilities
· Assist with mock recall activities
· Conduct verification checks of labels on all packaging lines to ensure that they are correct.
· Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Knowledge of FDA, USDA GMPP, SOP, HACCP, sanitation, chemical safety, pest control and food allergens.
· Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others in a team setting.
· Good problem-solving skills.
· Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities.
· Some overtime will be required due to covering vacations, absences, and seasonal fluctuations of production and preparation for the annual SQF audit.
· All work areas and equipment are to be kept clean and sanitary according to A.S.K. Foods, Inc. Food Safety policy.
Education and Experience:
· High School diploma required.
· Prior experience in the food industry preferred and/or bachelor's degree.
· Must be able to accurately keep detailed records and make decisions related to food safety.
