The Purchasing Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Purchasing with ensuring that the property obtains the highest quality product, for food and beverage and non food items, at competitive market prices. The Purchasing Manager assists with the maintaining of sound purchasing systems, policies and procedures. Responsible for working with the food and beverage areas to control costs as well as participates in all inventories.
Annual Salary Expectations: $75,000
Essential Job Functions:
Determine and order all beverage needs for events.
Oversee and execute all beverage inventory and controls.
Oversee receiving all beverages and its storage.
Create beverage requisitions and transport beverage to events.
Count back in all unused beverages after events. Implement beverage return system, monitor excess trends on non-returnable items, and utilization of excess product.
Maintain beverage storerooms.
Determine and order all paper and cleaning supplies. Oversee receiving and storage of items.
Determine and order all non-food items; Oversee receiving and storage of items.
Order all back of the house uniforms on a weekly basis.
Obtain new hire sizes on back of house uniforms from Human Resources.
Fill in for Receiver regarding delivery check in and putting product away during absences, vacations or as need arises.
Assist Director of Purchasing with food purchasing when necessary.
Assist with conducting period end food and café inventories in team setting; physical count and entry in inventory spreadsheet; updating prices on a monthly basis.
Assist Purchasing Manager with administrative duties including scheduling, payroll, coaching, counseling, training and development of staff.
Perform Director of Purchasing job duties in their absence.
Work with Director of Purchasing, Executive Chef and President on special projects related to BOH (ie: purchase orders system, kitchen purchasing/production system).
Assist Purchaser in reconciling all invoices and working with ADACO.
Coordination of small wares via inventories and pars.
Hire, coach & counsel and conduct performance evaluations of staff.
Develop, train and mentor staff and act as a resource to them.
Travel, as necessary, to different properties/venues.
Perform all reasonable requests by the management team.
Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
Follow proper time keeping policies and procedures
Follow the sign in and out procedure for keys.
Know and follow all Pier Sixty emergency and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
College degree preferred.
1+ years prior purchasing experience.
Prior hotel/hospitality purchasing or food and beverage experience preferred.
Prior experience with purchasing of beverage is preferred.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Excellent computer skills necessary, including EXCEL.
Ability to communicate work related information to co-workers, supervisors, vendors and clients.
Able to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels.
