Psychiatrist- Assertive Community TreatmentMerakey is seeking a full time Psychiatrist for our ACT team covering Dauphin County.Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Teams are composed of professionals including psychiatrists, nurses, mental health professionals, substance abuse professionals, employment specialists, housing specialists, and a peer specialist, all of whom collaborate to provide complete services including therapy, medication management and resource linkage to adult individuals with serious mental illness (SMI). Services are provided in the individual's home or the community and include one in person visit per month.40 hours per week.Position DetailsProvides psychiatric and medical assessments and treatment; clinical supervision, education as needed, and training of the team as well as supervision of medication and psychiatric and medical treatment policies and procedures. The psychiatrist working in conjunction with the Team Leader has the clinical responsibility for monitoring client treatment and staff delivery of clinical services.Conduct psychiatric assessments including psychiatric history, course of illness, response to treatment, mental status examination, and 5 Axis DSM IV diagnoses and present assessment results at team meetings and treatment plan meetings.Perform individual, group, and family supportive therapy as well as psychotherapy and illness education as neededPrescribe psychotropic medications and conduct regular assessments of therapeutic responses and side effects and educate clients regarding psychotropic medications.Collaborate with the registered nurses in assessment of client physical health, making appropriate referrals to community physicians for further assessment and treatment, and coordinating medical treatments with psychiatric treatment.Provide ongoing support, counseling, and education to team members and family members of clients to help them become more knowledgeable about mental illness.Provide crisis assessment and management of consumers during regular work hours, both on and off site over the phone, during other hours, and as on call back up to the first line of on call staff.Please apply or email your CV toBenefitsMerakey offers medical, dental & vision insurance plans, competitive compensation plans and more!DailyPayWork/Life BalanceFlexible SchedulesCell Phone Discount PlansEmployee Referral BonusesTuition ReimbursementCare.com MembershipAbout MerakeyMerakey is a non-profit provider of developmental, behavioral health, and education services. Requirements
Qualifications:Board Certified or Board Eligible in psychiatryLicensed in PAStrong clinical skills and experience providing treatment to persons with severe and persistent mental illness.Clinical supervisory experience is preferred.Understanding of the characteristics and problems of adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses and be knowledgeable about the ACT model.Valid Driver's License and ability to travel within the coverage area.
