The Project Inspector performs construction observation and testingof various construction activities. This position deals with inspecting and monitoring projects anddevelopments to make sure they are following specific standards. It may require extensiveexperience with technical training or an equivalent certification. Certification (i.e., MTRB, ACI,ICC, etc.) is preferred.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum High School diploma. Bachelors degree would be beneficial.Minimum 5 years of construction field inspection experience.Construction experience and background preferred.State Certifications in Concrete, Asphalt, and Soils and Aggregate are preferred.Knowledge of safety standards and construction activities methods.Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspectioninstructions.Computer skills including developing and editing documents, reports, spreadsheets, PDF, andphoto files.Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair ofbuildings or other structures such as highways and roads.Able to do basic general math including measurement, estimation, and problem-solving.Good time management and organizational skills.Good problem solving/analysis skills.Able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and written.Ability to work independently or as part of a team.Ability to work outside occasionally in environmental, atmospheric, and sometimes hazardousconditions.Ability to work outside with increased noise levels.Ability to travel to different locationsWilling to work nightsAbility to work outside in all weather conditions and conditions that are associated withconstruction and development projects.Positive service-oriented attitude toward the firm, our employees, and the clients.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Observe and test work performed to confirm compliance with building codes, permits, localordinances, zoning regulations, and contract specifications.Perform construction inspection of processes, procedures, systems, structures, andutilities.Record and file necessary documentation pertaining to construction progress including dailyreports,record drawings, and final documentation.Assist in the review of contractor progress payments.Provide field support services for submittals, RFIs, and requests for contract changeorders.Provide notification and documentation of any observed non-conformance to the Resident Engineerand assist in issuing non-conformance reports.Document and develop reports of on-site observations, as-built conditions, non-conformances, andinspections of construction activities with photographic records and entry into computer datasystems.Survey and document change order work in the field.Document labor, equipment, and material expenditures on force account work.Monitor the contractor's quality control activities, including contractor's materials samplingand testing and best management practices.Perform other duties as assigned.
LOCATION: Honolulu, HISALARY: Starting at $55,000 per year depending on experience
