Program Specialist III-DOE -SES
Salary Range: $42,776.81- $60,000.00
The mission of the Office of K-12 School Choice is to support quality public and private educational choice programs by providing information and assistance to promote successful outcomes for students, families, institutions, and communities.
Job Description/Duties & Responsibilities
The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The employee must interact courteously with others. The employee's performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit. Attendance at work is an essential job function. Additionally, the employee will be responsible for:
Review the financial audits of charter schools to determine whether the school must develop a financial corrective action plan with its district sponsors.
Initiate the corrective action plan process for charter schools and act as an intermediary between schools and districts regarding this process.
Monitor the process whereby charter schools in need of academic correction have provided and are implementing plans to districts.
Assist with the development of technical assistance papers for the tasks described above.
Assist the Education Policy Director in the Office of Independent Education and Parental Choice with the management of state contracts, as they pertain to the legislative appropriation various entities receive. Those entities include, but may not be limited to: KIPP Jacksonville, SEED School of Miami, the Charter Support Unit.
Supervise or assist with projects as assigned by the Charter Schools Director or the Education Policy Director.
The employee will perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computer software including applications (WORD, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Ability to independently plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
Ability to compile, organize and analyze data
Ability to prepare, clear, concise and accurate records and reports
Ability to communicate and deal with people effectively
Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet critical deadlines
Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, policies and procedures
Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes and FDOE rules and policies
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and at least 2 years of professional administrative or directly related experience.

LEAVE INFORMATION:
Annual Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are be credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.
Sick Leave -. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.
