Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Program Manager III to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business in Louisville, KY. The Program Manager will be responsible for managing and delivering, on time and within cost, our US Navy MK45 Naval Gun programs. BAE Systems provides MK45 5-Inch Gun Systems, Spares, and additional equipment and services to the US Navy. This role is full-time onsite at our factory in Louisville, KY and reports directly to the Domestic Guns Program Director.
The Program Manager is accountable for all aspects of the US Navy MK45 program including the following: Managing program to achieve cost/profitability, schedule, and technical performance objectives with a high level of customer satisfactionEstablishing program direction for the functional IPT leads delivering the scope (Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Contracts, Finance, Field Service, and/or others)Effectively managing program complexities including multiple production elements, product/technology development, and significant subcontractsActing as a Safety champion for the MK45 ProgramDirectly managing, leading, and developing subordinate PMsIndirectly managing, leading, and developing program team members across several functionsEffectively presenting Program status and proposals to Customers and Senior ManagementProactively planning, monitoring, and controlling scope and activities including disciplined, effective change managementActively and effectively managing risks and opportunitiesMaking timely decisions with sound judgment while complying with policies and proceduresContinuously improving program performance including capturing, evaluating, and sharing good practiceMeeting financial commitments for Orders, Sales, Profit, and Cash Flow
The Program Manager will:Work across functional lines to meet the program objectivesDevelop and present program status at program and technical reviews with customers and at Program Performance Reviews (PPRs) with various levels of the BAE Systems organization (Business Area, Business Unit, Sector, and Inc.)Act as primary point of contact between BAE Systems and the customer, suppliers, and key customer stakeholders; this includes working across international cultures and time zonesMake decisions to deliver cost-effective solutions to the company and ensure assigned projects meet financial commitments for orders, sales, profit, and cash, while managing to an appropriate level of riskLead or participate in the creation of new business/follow-on business strategies and in the development of strategic and financial plansIdentify and assess performance gaps to customer expectations or program objectives, develop and initiate improvement plans to close the gaps, and utilize metrics to verify performance to planResponsible and accountable to Product Line Management for program execution, profitability, timeliness, and overall success
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of work experience or equivalent experienceActive Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain oneExperience in Program/Project Management with broad and deep understanding of project management methodologies, toolsets, process, and governanceExperience in People Management/Leadership with the ability to lead, mentor, coach, and develop diverse teamsExperience in Aerospace & Defense or related low volume, high complexity environmentExperience in Earned Value Management (EVM) in a Fixed Price environment including oversight of Control Account Managers (CAMs)Experience in Program Scope Management and Cost Estimating, including estimate to complete/estimate at completion (ETC/EAC) processesExperience in Business Case development, analysis, and presentationProven track record of effectively managing program complexities and structuring activities in times of ambiguityAbility to develop and implement effective program/project plans specifying goals, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resourcesAbility to analyze complex challenges and develop streamlined solutions that drives performance improvement and resource optimizationAbility to achieve program objectives using a team-based approach that demonstrates the value of each team memberAbility to navigate cultural differences to understand unique customer customs, expectations, values, and prioritiesAbility to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholdersHighly adaptable with a high degree of initiative and proactivityCustomer focus and relationship building skillsStrong communication skills

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $143000 - $243100
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
