Roles and Responsibilities:- Manages the development of design and construction aspects of capital projects.- Manages the development, preparation and implementation of the rail portions of the annual capital budget, as well as the analysis of and recommendations/justifications for future capital projects.- Estimates the time and funding required to an accuracy adequate for budgeting and completion of assigned projects.- Supervises the activities of consultant engineering firms and assigned project team through all phases of development and construction including the review of design proposals and contracts materials for conformance to technical standards and established criteria.- Monitors projects to assure timely cost-effective activity and initiates corrective action as required. Ensures that effective mechanisms for planning and resource allocation are implemented.This position supervises:Principal Architect/EngineerEducation, Experience, and Qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Planning, or related field, or equivalent- Eight years (8) progressively responsible experience in planning, design or construction of public transportation capital projects or railroad improvement projects.- A master’s degree preferred in Engineering, Planning, or related field can substitute for two (2) years of experience.
