About Product Manager Software Capabilities

  UPMC Insurance Services Division (ISD) is a rapidly growing organization powered by its product line excellence, innovation, quality, and reliability as well as its collaborative partnerships across the broader UPMC enterprise. Within ISD, UPMC Health Plan drives optimal patient/member experiences and outcomes along with business process efficiencies to meet the clinical, operational, and financial challenges of a changing healthcare landscape. Innovative product, design, and development teams provide the overall specifications for UPMC Health Plan's clinical software portfolio and partner with Information Technology experts on delivery.

  The Product Manager is at the heart of developing tools to bring UPMC Health Plan services even closer to our members and patients. The Product Manager is also the liaison between the product strategy and development, is a leader in driving the vision, and is accountable for delivering a valuable and viable product. Product Managers strategize to deliver an innovative, technological solution that keeps the organization ahead of the market. This role must be comfortable driving change and eager to explore methods for accelerating business agility. This is a fully remote position for out-of-area hires. If from the Pittsburgh area, the Product Manager Software Capabilities would be asked to come into the office occasionally based on business needs.

  Responsibilities:

  Generate, own, and prioritize the product roadmap as well as gather, write, document and manage the development of requirements.

  Align with Director to define a strategy for the product that is in line with the company vision and supports organizational objectives.

  Obtain feedback from users, stakeholders and team members to shape the product vision and strategy while analyzing user and product data into actionable insights.

  Act as the liaison between the business stakeholders and the development teams.

  Effectively develop and communicate user stories to drive productive product and architectural solutioning.

  Promote innovation. Be an agent of change.

  Continually coordinate and engage with Stakeholders, Engineers, User Experience, Design and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify opportunities to accelerate product development.

  Maintains strategic alignment with Product Directors and drives the strategy autonomously.

  Establish communication strategies to build awareness and understanding of the product as well as transparency with stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.

  Lead cross-functional activities including increment planning and development phases within the product development life cycle.

  Accountable for successful execution of the product roadmap, from ideation through release.

  Work with marketing and perform independent market research to stay abreast of market trends. Surface opportunities for cross-product collaboration in response to the market.

  Solve complex problems, help find creative ways to keep moving forward when faced with obstacles, identify opportunities for process improvement and acceleration.

  Opportunity to lead and mentor junior Product team members.

  Ability to manage multiple complex features and competing priorities.

  Present strategic recommendations to senior leaders to influence organizational decision-making.

  Bachelor's degree B.A./B.A. required. Advanced degree preferred.

  3+ years of professional experience including direct management of software products and/or enabling technology.

  Experience with Azure DevOps preferred.

  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  Strong problem-solving skills.

  Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  Understanding of health care IT industry.

  Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

  Solid technical background with proven commercial software expertise, developing web products and technologies.

  Demonstrates fluency with agile/lean methods.

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  Understanding of health care IT industry.

  Organizational and leadership abilities.

  Shows working knowledge across multiple functional areas such as product management, engineering, design, and market research but also exhibits depth in a relevant discipline. E.g., T-shaped individuals Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
