Summary:
The Process Improvement Specialist is responsible for monitoring and improving organizational processes with the aim of making them as efficient as possible. This position assists with the development of new process training, facility renovations/retrofits, process improvements, equipment installations, and utility installations and modifications
Job Duties:
The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Analyze business processes using various methods, such as gap analysis or PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) to find opportunities for improvement as well as losses.
Act as internal consultant to develop short- and long-term strategies for the company and incorporate Six Sigma, Agile, and other practices in order to facilitate progress and reduce costs – both in terms of sales and workflow inefficiencies.
Lead/support necessary training with appropriate personnel group(s) to effectively implement recommended process improvements.
Develop job aids to support new processes or procedures.
Coordinate and lead key projects for improvement across all levels of the organization.
Facilitate the collection of project requirements, objectives and expectations, and clearly communicates this information to project teams and stakeholders.
Lead definition of project objectives, scope development, and front-end engineering in support of the project development and execution.
Support the company's Project Management Process in execution of capital projects.
Monitor the progress of projects and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.
Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets project standards.
Manage assigned project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures.
Direct company or contract project engineers in supporting roles on projects.
Other duties as assigned by Process Improvement Engineer.
Qualifications:
Minimum of one to three years of process improvement experience desired
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
PMP Certification is a plus
Formal Certifications in continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Accelerated Root Cause, and/or Transactional Lean strongly preferred
Thorough knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, and other project-related activities, including their interfaces and interdependencies.
Strong commitment to safety and environmental issues. Willingness to adhere to all safety and health rules, plant rules, procedures and guidelines.
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
Computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Microsoft Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work without direct supervision to accomplish goals and meet schedules.
Proven solid work ethic and ability to work well with others as well as independently.
Possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Must be open-minded and adaptive to change, promote the collective interests of the team more than self-interest, able to resolve problems in a respectful manner.
Ability to flex hours to support training initiatives with second and third shifts when necessary.
