TITLE: Principal Engineer IILOCATION: Englewood, CO

　　JOB SUMMARY: Actively and consistently support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience. Support complex and critical projects that involve several technical systems and constituents. Work with a team of advanced engineers who support the development, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of various technologies that support Charter’s mobile/web video delivery, cloud infrastructure, and encryption/DRM solutions for production deployment and engineering labs. Participate in creating architecture, specifications, and test plans for production product deployment. Work cross-functionality with Product, Engineering, Project Management, and Operations teams. Provide subject matter expertise in the following areas: public/private CDNs (content delivery networks), IP networking, Cloud DVR (digital video recording), encoding technologies, packaging DRM (digital rights management), original solutions, VOD (video on demand), and Cloud infrastructure technologies. Provide analysis, specifications, and test plans in support of various advanced engineering and development projects, including but not limited to availability, elasticity, scale, performance, security, and control for private/public/hybrid cloud system architectures. Direct the evaluation and testing of new hardware platforms and technologies to provide implementation and design documentation. Perform network design utilizing TCP, UDP, Anycast, Multicast, and BGP. Design virtual machines and containers, including Private and Public cloud infrastructure, OpenStack, VMWare, Kubernetes, and Rancher. Store using object storage, block storage, file storage, CEPH, S3, and NFS. Utilize cloud-based DVR systems, including shared copy and pure private copy technologies. Encode using AVC and HEVC. Utilize CDN Architecture, including HLS, DASH, caching, Nginx, Varnish, and Apache. Automate with Ansible, Chef, and Terraform in a cloud environment.

　　The Principal Engineer II provides technical leadership within a team but does not supervise the members of the team.

　　EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Engineering or a related field. 4 years of experience performing network design utilizing TCP, UDP, Anycast, Multicast, and BGP; and in encoding using AVC and HEVC. 3 years of experience designing virtual machines and containers, including Private and Public cloud infrastructure, OpenStack, VMWare, Kubernetes, and Rancher; in storing using object storage, block storage, file storage, CEPH, S3, and NFS; in utilizing cloud-based DVR systems, including shared copy and pure private copy technologies; in utilizing CDN Architecture, including HLS, DASH, caching, Nginx, Varnish, and Apache. 2 years of experience automating with Ansible, Chef, and Terraform in a cloud environment.

　　Salary depends on geography, experience, and education; negotiations begin at$124,000/year.

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location.
