Summary
Acts as in-charge auditor. Prepares audit planning work, performs audit assignments/tasks as outlined in audit programs, identifies potential cost recoveries, reviews draft audit reports, provides input on Audit Committee updates and FTA updates.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for intermediate to more complex capital audit projects. Evaluates contractor billings for compliance with applicable regulations, contract provisions and financial controls.
Prepares audit planning work with staff for review and approval by the Senior Director.
Delegates and/or performs audit assignments/tasks as outlined in audit programs. Identifies financial discrepancies, control weaknesses and other problems. Identifies potential cost recoveries that may be due to NJ Transit.
Prepares clear, concise, accurate and timely audit reports, incorporating audit results and recommendations.
Performs follow-up of prior issued audit reports to ensure that audit recoveries are collected by Finance.
Review draft audit reports prepared by staff prior to submission to the Senior Director
Provides input on Capital audits including Sandy related for the Audit Committee updates.
Provides input to the FTA Sandy IOM quarterly updates.
Performs special reviews and projects or other assignments at the request of Internal Audit management.
This Position Supervises:
Intern, Auditor I, Sr. Auditor Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Auditing, Accounting, Business Administration or related area and six (6) years of accounting, auditing, or public accounting experience. CPA or CIA desired. Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of Standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Teams.
