　　inspections to ensure compliance with the Citys Wastewater PretreatmentProgram. Collects

　　representative samples of wastewater and water from industrial,commercial, and institutional sources,

　　from various interceptors, city and storm sewer, and from areas such asthe Nogales Wash. Observes and

　　records field conditions, flow meter reading, field test results, andother data relevant to sampling

　　conditions. Performs a variety of physical, chemical, biological, andbacteriological tests on the samples

　　collected. Prepares a variety of written, oral, tabular, and graphicreports, which often require calculations.

　　Prepares notices of requirements and violations of applicableregulations. Prepares data for entry into data

　　processing systems. Contacts industrial, commercial, and institutionalaccounts to obtain access, observe

　　procedures, obtain samples, and investigate complaints. Explains theCitys Pretreatment Program to

　　industry and institutional representatives, persons from other agenciesand the public. Explains procedures

　　and policies related to discharge permits, monitoring, chargeenforcement, etc. Responds to emergencies.

　　Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal safety requirementsand regulations. Performs other

　　duties as required or assigned.
