Laboratory work will focus on uptake and translocation of infectious prions in both crop and wild plant species, but other areas of investigation will be available as well. The selected individual will lead manuscript preparation and reporting of results. Three years of funding are guaranteed. Job Duties: 40% wet-lab analyses, data generation and analysis 30% confocal and electron microscopy 20% writing of peer-reviewed publications and grants 10% presentations at professional conferences, public outreach and communication Qualifications Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in plant/soil/environmental science, molecular biology, or another closely related field. Experience with greenhouse and plant growth techniques. Preferred Qualifications Skills in one or more of the following: handling BSL2/BSL2+ agents, confocal microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, or seeded amplification assays. We will train in any area where experience is necessary for project completion. About the Department MNPRO specializes in real-time surveillance of CWD in cervid populations and associated environments.
