Position Overview:
The Post Process Engineer II provides direct support for the Mastercam product line, creating and maintaining post processors and machine environments for various CNC equipment. The Engineer works with the different departments, teams and external resources (OEM’s, Partners) in the development and support of new functionalities for Post Processors.
Team Overview:
The Post Processing team is responsible for the critical connections between Mastercam and the huge variety machine tools that are programmed everyday with the world’s most popular CAD/CAM system. Target machines vary from regular 3-Axis mills and 2-Axis lathes to advanced 5-Axis and Mill-Turn machining centers. The team works closely with other product teams, especially those providing toolpath motion and the virtual machine simulation environment. Project work is focused on building and supporting machine environments and postprocessors for our many customers and partners around the world. Teamwork and an agile approach are key to our customer’s success in a dynamic environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prioritize and execute Post projects efficiently and effectively based on Post Department needs. Take direction from the Product Owner, Scrum Master, senior team members and Manager.
Build and maintain libraries of machine components such as spindles, chucks, and tooling. Adapt and respond positively to feedback through regular meetings with senior team members.
Maintain Mastercam post processors and machine environments for various CNC equipment.
Provide post processor support for resellers, Tier 1 and Tier 2 developers, OEM’s, partners, and other departments within CNC Software, meeting departmental standards for customer support.
Create test data to maintain manual and automated tests of our post processors.
Work with local and international Resellers, partners, and/or customers remotely or onsite to gather feedback and validate machine environments and post processors to ensure quality through testing. Develop proficiency in a specific machine environment.
Participate in applicable professional, technical and career development training (to include attainment of associated qualifications where required.)
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
6 - 9 years’ experience working with CNC machines/controls, including but not limited to multi-axis mill, lathe, Okuma OSP, FANUC.
Working knowledge of CNC machine structure and motion as well as formal training or experience with CAD/CAM software.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Systems or Computer Engineering required.
Proven experience with basic 2-dimensional trigonometry and 3-dimensional mathematics, including but not limited to vector and matrix manipulation.
Working experience with PowerShell.
Proven ability to read technical drawings and convert 2-dimensional drawings into 3-dimensional geometry.
Proven experience with C/C++ programming language preferred.
Proven knowledge of CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, and version control software.
Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (Word/Excel/OneNote).
Proven problem-solving skills, strong verbal, and written communication skills.
Above average ability to multi-task while projecting a positive outward demeanor and managing workload with a minimum amount of supervision.
Above average time management skills and the ability to work in a team environment successfully supporting others.
Above average communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide accurate and timely information in a succinct and easy to understand manner
