Job Description
This position is for a mid-level Portfolio Manager on the Northern California Commercial Banking team. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience underwriting commercial banking credit, including revolving lines of credit, term loans, and real estate financing among other types of credit such as ACH, FX, etc.
The Portfolio Manager partners with assigned Relationship Manager (s) to successfully manage Commercial Banking credit account relationships. Grows revenue as directed by senior management by successfully closing new business relationships and retaining and expanding relationships with existing customers. The Commercial Banking team generally covers companies with over $25MM in annual revenues up to $1Billion in annual revenues and provides all related banking products and services in partnership with other groups in the Bank. The Portfolio Manager will cover an assigned client portfolio and will work with relationship managers and product partners to address client and prospect requests, as well as routine monitoring of the existing portfolio.
Responsibilities include: Underwriting all types of credit account exposure, managing an assigned credit portfolio, successfully closing new business relationships and expanding existing relationships, managing credit risk and responding to prospect or customer credit questions and making independent calls on assigned portfolio of relationships. Secondarily, provides customer service, participates in joint sales calls with Relationship Manager (s) and identifies customer needs. Some occasional travel will be necessary for client meetings and bank events, but typically limited to the local market area.
While we do provide some on the job training, the ideal candidate should have familiarity with Commercial Banking underwriting including financial statement spreading and analysis, assigning risk ratings, testing financial covenants, completing annual reviews, and reviewing legal documentation.
Other desired attributes include attention to detail, superior critical thinking skills, focus on meeting deadlines, and ability to multitask.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
Five to seven years of commercial banking experience
Please note that the Commercial Banking team at U. S. Bank is currently operating under a hybrid model. Team members are expected to work from their assigned office up to 3 days per week, with remaining 2-3 days worked from home depending on team schedules. The model may change in the future, but currently this position is not a fully remote or work-from-home role and the Portfolio Manager will need to reside in the local market as this position will be based in Sacramento or Fresno office.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $107,865.00 - $126,900.00 - $139,590.00
