  Air Products, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an opening for a Piping Design Intern at our headquarters in Allentown, PA. Our Designers are primarily responsible for developing safe, fit-for-purpose piping layouts as well as some of the structures to support the piping and equipment. Air Products develops, engineers, builds, owns and operates some of the world's largest industrial gas plants including refining, chemical, metals, electronics, manufacturing and food/beverage.   Work alongside engineering professionals who will mentor and encourage you to learn and grow.  In addition to practical work experience, our internship program includes seminars, tours and various social activities - all intended to enhance your personal and professional development. Full-time summer internships are 11 weeks in length.

  RESPONSIBILITIESSoftware*  Prepare 2D plant layouts and plot plans using Microstation in support of projects and proposals.*  Model equipment and piping to develop piping model in SmartPlant 3D (S3D) for conceptual layouts, basic design and detailed design.*  Generate project deliverables including piping isometrics packages and related reports.Leadership*  Execute design of an assigned piping scope of work in accordance with project specifications, design parameters, codes, company directives and industry practices with direction from the assigned Piping Engineer and Lead Designer.Communication*  Interface with other functional groups to gather information needed to produce a comprehensive and constructible design package, relay schedule issues and ensure smooth handover to Construction team.Safety and Standards*  Adhere to all Air Products' safety requirements, including specifications and standards related to Piping and Civil/Structural Design.Travel*  Participate in shop and site inspections and field support.

  QUALIFICATIONSEducation (or comparable work experience)*  Completed at least 2 years toward a 4-year degree, or 2-year associate degree*  Minimum, overall GPA of 3.0*  Written and spoken English communication skills, particularly with regard to technical terminology related to piping and civil/structural design*  Microsoft Office suite*  BlueBeam and/or Adobe commenting tools for redlining drawingsWork Experience*  No relevant work experience required*  Experience with drafting tools (AutoCAD, Microstation, S3D, etc.)Character*  Highly motivated and able to work independently and efficiently in a fluid environment with competing priorities*  Open to continuous improvement with a passion for continual development and learning* Involvement in campus activities and demonstrated leadership
