Position Summary : The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice; accountable for the outcomes of nursing care deliveries in the orthopedic clinic. Specific responsibilities include:
working as part of the clinical team
following physician’s orders for care of patients and related medical and clerical support functions.
accompanying patients to exam rooms
preparing patients for exams
performing and documenting vital signs
assisting with procedures
preparing and administering medications with physician’s authorization
using CPR/BLS skills when required
drawing blood
providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, disease management,
home treatments, and special diets.
retrieval of lab and x-ray reports
calling in prescriptions
telephone triage
obtaining referrals and authorizations
completing medical forms
ordering medical and office supplies
stocking exam rooms
cleaning rooms
cleaning instruments
disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards
performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation
adhering to all HIPAA guidelines / regulations
competing other treatment and front office duties as assigned.
incumbents recognize that physician office team members cross over to assist in all duties assigned to help any team member with tasks for which they have the knowledge and competency to assist with when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN), required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred.
Experience :
• Clinical RN experience, preferred.
• Experience in orthopedics preferred.
Licensure :
• Current RN licensure in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Nursing (SCLLR), required.
• American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational Development on a case-by-case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.
• ACLS, preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
