JOB SUMMARY
The Physician Compliance Auditor 1 performs audits and evaluates compliance related activities and services to ensure that documentation meets required standards and regulations. Determines the scope of an audit, uses appropriate tools to perform the audit, compiles data, reports findings, and provides corrective recommendations and training. Audits may include documentation and coding accuracy of outpatient, inpatient, and emergency services by utilizing ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and other coding and documentation guidelines.
SALARY
The pay range for this position is $22.09 (entry-level qualifications) - $29.77 (more experienced) The specific rate will depend upon the successful candidate’s specific qualifications and prior experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Performs chart audits and formulates recommendations based upon the audit findings and communicates them to the appropriate personnel.
Implements coding reviews, creates work plans based on the reviews and ensures that compliance issues and areas of risk are identified and addressed.
Assists in developing curriculum for medical record documentation guidelines, coding conventions, and methodologies for diagnostic and procedural services for the education of physicians and staff.
Acts as a coding compliance resource and consultant for all providers, company administrators, and clinical staff.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS.
Able to determine the scope of an audit, use appropriate tools to perform the audit, compile data, report findings, and provides corrective recommendations and training.
Maintains working knowledge of Federal, State, private payer, and other applicable legal and regulatory requirements for the compliance department.
Ability to research topics regarding compliance and coding efficiently and accurately.
Able to explain compliance concerns and resolutions clearly and concisely with the ability to comfortably discuss the same with all members of the organization.
Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Two years auditing experience.

EDUCATION - Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
 Cert Coding Specialist (CCS), Cert Professional Coder (CPC), Cert Prof Coder Physician (CPC-P): Must have either Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC-P) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
