Job DescriptionThe Physical Security Specialist is part of the enterprise security team responsible for development, deployment, functionality and utilization of security systems across the Avista Corporation. These systems include video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, alarm monitoring and other safety/security systems. In partnership with physical security leadership, reviews facility designs for the deployment & improvement of appropriate security systems to mitigate risk, criminal activity and incidents. Develop and maintain company physical security & monitoring standards and procedures. Partners with internal business units to continually improve detection of security related issues & concerns with preventative processes and controls. Work with contract security providers on service level agreements, performance indicators, post orders, response procedures and best practices.
Responsibilities
Work closely with security leadership as it relates to guard & protective services, visitor management, workplace violence, compliance, investigations, and security system technology.
Responsible for implementing security monitoring program, intended to deter, detect, delay and respond to security events and incidents.
Work with internal key stakeholder groups to develop and maintain physical security standards, policies and procedures.
Collaborate with physical security engineering who implements & supports security.
technology and controls to address vulnerabilities.
Provides training, support and guidance to personnel engaged in security systems monitoring & response functions and responsibilities.
Develop and maintain preventative maintenance program for Avista’s physical security systems and assets.
Acts as a safety & security advocate and supporter of best practices to further the organizations safety & security principles and initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
5 years of experience in physical security environment is required.
3 years Security Operations Center (SOC) experience desired.
Knowledge of camera, intrusion detection and access control systems preferred.
Full and complete working knowledge of safety & security work practices and safety rules required.
Effective communications, interpersonal, and organizations skills required.
