The Photographer actively creates and manages the visual portfolio capturing all of Cleveland Metroparks properties, services, attractions, and activities. The incumbent creates high quality digital media through image manipulation and rendering and manages the Park District's physical and digital image libraries.
Essential Functions:
Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
Electronically processes raw digital data into usable images by utilizing technical image manipulation software to achieve various reproduction specifications though color correction, retouching and enhancement.
Creates and maintains the Park District's digital and image library and archives
Reviews, updates, and purges image collection.
Digitizes historic and contemporary collection utilizing reflective and transparency scanners and software.
Establishes retrieval protocol and assigns identification and properties for images in electronic and archival storage.
Provides photographic images at Park District events, scenic areas, facilities, and other needed content using multiple lenses and formats including but not limited to still photographs, video, drone footage and digital.
Conducts studio work to Capture images in artificial environments and on-location.
Acts as art director; plans and/or creates the situations in which to capture the image uses good judgment, creativity and safety protocols for themselves, the subjects and visitors.
Works with Creative Manager to manage operating and capital photography budget. Directs purchases of technical equipment, materials and services.
Coordinates and fulfills outside media requests from newspapers, magazines and other specialty trade publications, convention and visitors bureaus and other approved users. Directly answers requests from the Park District for photographic media use.
Provides photographic and image capture consultation to Park District clients as well as with other agencies and vendors.
Researches and develops new/and or image capture and manipulation techniques, equipment, materials or supplies.
Obtains and manages gathering permission to use photographs for marketing and other use.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to capture photographs at parks, zoo and golf courses.
Participates in creative projects and brainstorms for projects including the brand campaign, social medial content, advertising and media assets.
Knowledge of capturing photos and videos for a variety of mediums and platforms.
Currently maintain or willing to pursue drone license.
Knowledge of social media platforms and photographing for different mediums including Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, etc.
Familiar with social media trends and how photography plays a role in that - orientation, trending filters, styles, templates, etc.
Real-time/quick transfer of photography during press conferences, special events, etc.
Knowledgeable about photo sharing tools best for productivity and efficiency.
Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
Updates and enhances own knowledge by involvement in continuing education for professional growth (i.e., attends relevant conferences, seminars, in-service trainings, and certification programs)
Maintains equipment in good operating condition.
