Job Description
Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC), operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a dedicated and skilled Pediatrician (Physician III). This individual will evaluate, diagnose, and treat illnesses in pediatric and adolescent patients. This position will provide medical care and case management to assigned patients, supervise nurse practitioners (NP), maintain current knowledge of pediatrics, and participate in committee work and quality improvement activity as assigned by supervisor. The individual will perform other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Please note: The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with participation in physician on-call rotation.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
Serve as primary care physician for patient units with participation in work rounds and morning report providing medical case management and oversight, direct evidence-based medical care for acute and chronic conditions, and basic procedures as required for patient needs.Provide clinical oversight and supervision of assigned NP(s) with periodic performance reviews as per hospital policies.Exchange information relative to providing proper medical care and treatment by consulting with other physicians, nurses, and other professionals as well as by presenting cases at staff meetings and instruction of other staff such as nurses, rehab therapists, and other personnel involved in medical practice.Participate in grand rounds and other in-service training and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of pediatric clinical practice and professional clinical guidelines.Lead medical care team meetings, such as multidisciplinary team rounds, in making final decisions about the treatment and care of individual patients, including their progress towards care goals, and review of specific programs of care.Participate in and lead ad hoc family and care management meetings.Participate in pediatric team and committee meetings, including serving as chair or primary representative of the Medical Department as assigned by supervisor.Participates in development and revision of pediatric policies and procedures including clinical protocols for Nursing Practitioners.Completion of all mandatory clinical care with appropriate and timely documentation in the medical record and billing according to medical staff bylaws and hospital policies with participation in periodic coding reviews and training.Participate in departmental performance evaluations and other quality improvement projects as needed.Participate in on-call duties in rotation with other pediatricians.Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Qualifications at Hire:
Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment methods and techniques used in the field of pediatrics, including appropriate medical and surgical sub-specialties.Experience in the care and treatment of children and adolescents with physical and cognitive disabilities.Ability to diagnose and treat acute and chronic physical diseases and injuries in children and adolescents.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification or eligibility for certification in Pediatrics by the American Board of PediatricsCompletion of at least three years of residency training in Pediatrics at a program accredited by the U.S. ACGMEExperience with Meditech and/or Cerner electronic health record systemsFamiliarity with and competency in Microsoft Office 365 applications

Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC) located in Canton, MA is a Joint Commission Accredited, 90+ bed pediatric hospital predominately serving children and young adults (ages 8-22) operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The mission of PRHC is to provide medical, rehabilitative, educational, recreational, habilitative, transitional, and complementary alternative medical services to children and young adults with multiple disabilities, assisting them to achieve their optimal level of independence in all aspects of life. PRHC offers coordinated medical care and therapies in a hospital-based environment, as well as, K-12 schooling, located on the grounds. Educational Services are provided by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In addition, PRHC offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities such as swimming, horseback riding, adaptive sports and many opportunities for socialization for disabled children and young adults.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a registered physician.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Current and valid registration as a physician under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine.
