Title: Payroll SpecialistHours: 7:30am-4:00pm M-FLocation: District Office
Qualifications:
Minimum of a 2-year degree (Associates Degree) preferred.
Experience and advanced training in payroll, data entry, and generally accepted accounting principles, payroll guidelines and procedures.
Proficient in the application and use of personal computers, 10 key adding machine and relevant software programs.
Ability to maintain an efficient and effective records system.
Advanced clerical skills.
Neat and accurate record keeping; detail oriented.
Knowledge of tax, IPERS, Social Security, etc., guidelines and capable of filing reports.
Ability to work and communicate well with others.
Positive, productive, dependable, flexible, and team oriented.
Ability to keep confidentialities.
Ability to make decisions within guidelines provided.
Physical at date of hire.
Knowledge Word, Excel, and timeclock systems.
On-line governmental reporting and school background in payroll.
Ability to work independently.
Reports to: Payroll Administrator & Controller Job Goal: To accurately, and in a timely fashion, process and distribute payroll and associated information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures, thus supporting Southeast Polk's mission to be an innovative, educational organization committed to providing learning experiences of superior quality which enable ALL students to successfully meet challenges now and in the future. Performance Responsibilities:
Gather and organize payroll data.
Collaborate with Personnel/Human Resources to ensure accuracy of employee lists, pay and benefits.
Maintain updated awareness of information affecting payroll matters in negotiated agreements and administrative schedules.
Keep current with all mandated changes.
Process, reconcile, and distribute regular and extra payroll runs.
Process, reconcile, and distribute employee benefits and withholdings.
Process direct deposits/payroll checks.
Process payroll void checks, garnishments, child support orders, Flex benefits, TSA’s, etc.
Process verifications of employment.
Process periodic payroll reports and spreadsheets.
Maintain payroll records and files.
Verify W2 data, reconcile, prepare and distribute W-2’s.
Meet deadlines (payrolls, state and federal reports, publications, etc.).
Provide assistance, backup, and support in the business department.
Assist with correspondence.
Provide an appropriate role model for the district.
Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information.
Other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: 1. Twelve Month Employment 2. Hours: 8 hours. Hours to work are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hours can vary as needed. Must be willing to work hours necessary to meet payroll and governmental deadlines. 3. Salary as determined by Board of Education.
