  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  Responsible for the multi-state weekly payroll processes to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, policies, and applicable laws.

  Oversees the Payroll Team in computation, preparation, and processing of hours, earnings, and commissions, including all deductions, garnishments, and taxes.

  Provides Payroll Team with guidance in handling difficult or complex situations and in resolving escalating complaints or disputes.

  Evaluates and communicates employee job performance and recommends appropriate personnel action.

  Cultivates a positive and effective team environment to provide consistent and excellent service.

  Ensures accurate and consistent maintenance of all timekeeping and payroll records required for hourly, salaried, and commission employees.

  Responds to payroll inquiries, resolves payroll issues, and communicates efficiently and timely with employees, leaders, and outside agencies.

  Partners with internal functions to identify and drive process improvements to ensure scalability, inclusive of setting up payroll operations in new states and refining payroll SOPs and documentation.

  Oversees federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and requests.

  Participates in mergers and acquisitions to integrate newly acquired associates into company payroll.

  Supports annual financial statements, benefit plan audits, workers' comp, and 401K audits.

  Ensures business requirements are properly documented and integrated with existing processes, services, solutions, and skill sets.

  Manages the organization’s external payroll reporting requirements (e.g., quarterly 941s and W-2s, wage payment history reporting to state regulatory agencies, etc.).

  Experience

  Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting

  7+ years of multistate payroll experience for 5,000+ with knowledge of related payroll laws and regulations

  5+ years previous managerial experience to include a remote workforce

  Advanced knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, and DOL Wage and Hour regulations and how they affect payroll processing and accounting practices

  Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

  Preferred Experience

  APA highly preferred

  CPP highly preferred
