Summary
SUMMARY: The Patient Financial Service Account Specialist is responsible for receiving walk-ins, and answering inbound customer service calls related to patient accounting questions. When inbound call volumes are low incumbent may make outbound follow up calls on outstanding guarantor AR accounts.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
Answer inbound customer service calls and make some outbound follow up calls in a professional, service oriented manner. Answer the calls timely without drops/abandons.
Ascertain the reason for the call and assist the caller with their questions, concerns or problems with the focus on first call resolution. Facilitate resolution by referring the matter to the issue/content expert. Escalate the matter to a supervisor, request the appropriate information or take appropriate action so that the issue expert is able to effectively resolve the matter.
Assist with inbound faxes to identify issues and take appropriate action.
Add and update accurate insurance information to accounts as patients provide information on guarantor accounts.
Review payment options and establish payment plans with patients to resolve their outstanding balances.
Other duties as assigned.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: High school diploma or GED or the equivalent.
Minimum Experience: 1 – 2 years of prior experience in an inbound call center and/or customer service environment; hospital patient account billing with experience or knowledge of 3rd party reimbursements from insurance companies and government payers is a plus.
Minimum Experience: Must be able to understand and interpret payer Remittance Advices, and Explanation of Benefits, (EOB’s) in order to explain to patients.
Bilingual Preferred.
Minimum Experience: Must possess proficiency and knowledge of an EHR system (preferably EPIC, Meditech or Sorian Financial).
