Responsible for scheduling clinic, radiology and

other ancillary appointments for returning KCC patients as well as performing

all responsibilities of a staff information specialist.

Responsibilities:

Answers all incoming customer calls.Identify and triage information needs of caller.Enters accurate demographic andinsurance information into the scheduling system to ensure that financialviability at Karmanos Cancer Hospital is secured at the most basic level.

Responsible for scheduling appointments requested by customers viaemail..

Based onpredetermined template, schedule return and return to new provider patientsfor treatment and physician clinic appointments; schedule new and returnpatients for radiology and other diagnostic and screening procedures.

Participate in staff meetings andcontinuing education programs with other staff members in order to buildindividual skills and implement process improvements that lead toachieving and sustaining a high level of caller satisfaction.

Assists and educates patients, families, and physicians’ offices inprocedures necessary to procure a complete set of records and theimportance of having those records available for a complete evaluation.

High school diploma required. Bachelor degree preferred.

Two years of customer service or healthcare related experience.

PC and word processing skills are required.

Knowledge of billing and managed care programs preferred.

Familiarity with third party insurance verification, authorization and referral procedures preferred.

Familiarity with cancer-related information and terminology.

Good interpersonal skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
