  Job Summary:

  Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Pathology Technician, who will report to the Diagnostic Laboratories Team Leader (DLTL) of the Bone Marrow Processing Laboratories, and whom will have key responsibilities for supporting patient bone marrow collection and preliminarily processing – including maintaining inventory supplies and cleaning glassware with regular guidance.

  The Pathology Technician schedules collections, accessions samples using the LIS, packaging, and sends the samples to the MetroCenter lab location after that laboratory opens for business with the VUMC Diagnostic Laboratories Transformation Project, expansion. Additional responsibilities include assuring excellent customer service and timely completion of pathology support functions to support patient care.

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains adequate stock of reagents and supplies.

  • Performs daily assignments and cleans work area.

  • Sets up equipment and prepares materials for various procedures.

  • The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.

  Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science major

  • Prior bone marrow collection, Specimen processing and accessioning experience

  Position Shift:

  VUMC, Bone Marrow Processing Lab hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm CST and on-call weekends

  Position shift hours: 7:30am-4:00pm , 5 days per week
