Internship in Human Resources - Workforce Development/Technical Training
Location: Valley Water Headquarters (5750 Almaden Expy. San Jose, CA)

OVERVIEW

Valley Water’s mission is to provide Silicon Valley with safe, clean water for a healthy life, environment, and economy. We manage an integrated water resources system that includes the supply of clean, safe water, flood protection, and stewardship of streams on behalf of Santa Clara County's 2 million residents.
The Workforce Development team is part of Human Resources and is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing professional development programs - think of us as the college for the employees! We develop staff on a variety of topics like Communication, Leadership, Computer skills, technical/Valley Water specific knowledge, and more. We administer programs such as the learning management system (LMS), internal communication programs, rotation programs, and a variety of other large programs!
INTERNSHIP LOCATION STATUS:This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite.For hybrid work, intern must perform their work in the state of California within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in (San Jose, California) by their start date.
Required License or Certificate
WE LOOK FOR INTERNS WHO:
Are pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
Strong writing, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Comfortable with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) or comfortable with learning new software.
Comfortable with having coaching conversations to learn and explore new ways to come up with solutions.
Comfortable with presenting information and engaging with small groups or large groups and recording post-meeting notes, both virtually (e.g., Zoom or MS Teams) and in-person.
AS A WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INTERN YOU WILL:
Participate in knowledge capture and transfer activities (e.g., interviewing staff, taking detailed notes, meet with the team to come up with solutions, etc.).
Research and develop training tools (e.g., eLearning, animations, documents, etc.).
Support and learn a wide range of Workforce Development related programs, tools, and topics, including the learning management system (LMS), performance management software, administering the helpdesk, etc.
Analyze reports, training data, and reaching out to other agencies/companies to research and present reports on trends and recommendations.
