The University of Chicago\'s Department of Pediatrics and the Institutefor Population and Precision Health seek a part-time Lecturer. Theposition is part-time and not benefits eligible.
In collaboration with the course director, the appointee will developand teach an introductory course covering ethical and legal questions inclinical research and healthcare data. Students will be exposed to abroad range of topics, including hospital decision support tools,electronic health record implementation, privacy and security ofhealthcare data, genomic testing, and authorship and peer review. Thecourse will be a required course for students in the Master of Sciencein Precision Health program but may also be open to other students withpermission of the instructor. A syllabus from a previous course exists,but the Lecturer has flexibility to implement changes as they see fitwith the approval of the program director.
Courses run for nine weeks, with the tenth week for a final project orexam. It is preferable that the course meets in the late afternoon/earlyevening either 1 or 2 days a week for a total of 3 hours, although theexact day(s)/time(s) will be determined in consultation with theLecturer. The class is offered in-person on the University\'s maincampus in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have: 1) aminimum of a Master\'s degree in Informatics, Biomedical Sciences,Ethics or a related field, or an MSN or MD with advanced training ininformatics, clinical ethics, or clinical research. PhD in Informatics,Statistics, Data Science, or a related field is preferred; and 2)experience as the primary instructor for a graduate level course.
