JOB SUMMARY
The Marriott International Law Department services the Company's lodging business around the world. The Asia Pacific (“APAC”) Law Department provides legal services to support the development and lodging operations of all Marriott-branded lodging products in the APAC region, including the full service Marriott and Renaissance brands, luxury Ritz-Carlton, Bulgari, and EDITION brands, and select Courtyard and Fairfield brands.
This Assistant Manager, Legal Services, Privacy & Data Security position is part of the APAC practice group of the Law Department and will report to a VP & Senior Counsel, Privacy & Data Security attorney on the team. The position will support the department’s attorneys in planning, executing, and managing privacy and data security compliance, governance, and training initiatives in the Asia Pacific region.
The position will be based in Hong Kong.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Three-year or four-year college degree and two or more years of relevant work experience; OR
4+ years of relevant work experience as a paralegal/managerSkills and Competencies
Good project management skills and ability to multi-task and meet simultaneous deadlines.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact and communicate effectively, specifically demonstrate an ability to present ideas and information in a clear and concise manner and an ability to interact effectively and develop positive, professional working relationships with clients as well as team members.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Supporting privacy and data security research and compliance initiatives, including:
Reviewing cases and providing support in Marriott’s Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA), Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA), and Data Subject Request (DSR) programs.
Assisting attorneys on the team with research on privacy and data security regulations in the APAC region.
Assisting attorneys on the team with the preparation of privacy and data security updates and awareness materials including articles, newsletters, and presentations.
Assisting attorneys on the team with privacy and data security gap assessment, risk evaluation, and gap remediation initiatives, including providing project management support and coordination for such initiatives.
Supporting privacy and data security governance initiatives, including:
Planning and coordinating privacy and data security governance meetings and events, such as continent committee and subcommittee meetings.
Preparing meeting and event materials, recording meeting and event minutes, and following up on action items from meetings and events.
Maintaining records, documents, and statistics relating to governance and strategy meetings and events.
Supporting training, audit, and monitoring efforts relating to privacy and data security, including:
Assisting attorneys on the team with preparing, proofreading, formatting, and regularly updating privacy and data security training materials.
Organizing, managing, and documenting privacy and data security training sessions or events.
Assisting attorneys on the team with delivering privacy and data security training.
Preparing and maintaining privacy and data security forms, policies, controls, and guidelines, including:
Assisting attorneys on the team with regularly reviewing, updating, proofreading, and formatting Marriott’s International Policies, Standards, Plans, Forms, and Playbooks.
Supporting the implementation and distribution of updated documents, in coordination with relevant Marriott business units such as Digital, IT, Communications, and HR.
Supporting the privacy and data security team in providing advisory, contract support, and incident response services, including:
Assisting attorneys in the team with providing legal advice and support to Consumer Operations teams and other stakeholders in relation to privacy and data security issues.
Assisting attorneys in the team with preparing, reviewing, and amending privacy and data security contracts such as data processing agreements and data transfer agreements.
Assisting attorneys in the team with investigating and responding to privacy and data security incidents, regulatory inquiries, complaints, and internal investigations.
