Req# 27803Aultman Health Foundation, CANTON, OHAULTMAN HEALTHAultman Health FoundationCasual - As Needed - No Benefits, Day Shift, VariedBASIC FUNCTION:Patient-focused tasks include greeting patients, scheduling appointments, scheduling any ordered tests, validating demographics, and updating insurance coverage.JOB DUTIES:Able to multitask, and to independently move from one area to another providing assistance where needed.Answer incoming telephone calls promptly in an appropriate, professional and courteous manner.Learn daily functions of the check-in area which include but not limited to:Prepares for patient arrival prior to appointmentReviews insurance for referral and/or co-payment requirementsMaintains daily census: acknowledges or cancels appointment accordinglyDemonstrates understanding of Aultman customer service standards.Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner; establishing eye contact with the customer.Communicates in professional and friendly manner.Acknowledges visitors and accurately responds to routine requests for information.Notifies nursing staff of apparent seriously ill patient on arrival and upon dischargeChecks patients in by completing the following tasks:Verification of patient demographics (name, address, phone number) every 6 monthsConfirmation of and updating insurance information each visitInitiation of required changes as necessaryNotifying clinical personnel of patient's arrivalGenerates and logs fee slipsCoordinates patient's discharge at the check-out are:Schedules appointmentsFollow-upConsultations as ordered for each patientCoordinates and schedules all appointments in office or at local hospital depending on insurance coverageSchedules outpatient radiology testing, and appropriately documents in the medical recordRefers to Financial Counselors under the following circumstances:Patient requires counseling regarding financial difficultiesPatient requests/requires payment plan for accountAny flags placed on fee tickets by FC's should be followed or addressed with the FC while patient is in the office5. Prepare patients for physician exam.Assess all patient' acuity to prioritize order seenObtain height, weight, BP, pulse, respirations, temp and pulse ox if neededAnswer any patient questions regarding policyReview chart to assure all documents needed are attached6 Miscellaneous duties:Sorts and delivers departmental mailNotifies physicians of any incoming calls from referring physiciansStocks area with paper, office supplies, appointment cards.Other duties as assigned specific to department needsHEALTH CARING STANDARDS / VALUES:1.
