This position is for a Fire Protection System Manager.
The System Manager’s primary role is to proactively manage system performance to meet or exceed plant safety, production, and cost goals by preventing equipment failures and improving system reliability and availability in a cost-effective manner. As the station system expert, the system manager is the focal point of plant knowledge concerning systems (i.e., performance requirements and bases, operating status, performance monitoring and analysis, planned preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, and related industry operating experience). Identified below are the roles and responsibilities that are considered core business and those business support activities.
Monitors and trends performance of assigned systems.
Performs and documents system walk downs.
Develops comprehensive System Health Reports and manage recovery plans
for degraded systems.
Maintains ownership of the Preventive Maintenance Program technical basis
Updates Maintenance Rule (Mrule) database and maintain system/function
unavailability.
Reviews and approve MSPI data provided by the MRule Program
Participates in the long-range planning and lifecycle management.
Fire Protection Systems background is a PLUS.

Responsible to the assigned supervisor to perform work activities and projects requiring the application of technical knowledge in a safe, cost effective and efficient way.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates work activities of others within work group, team or those external to the company including contractors, or vendors to complete routine activities.
Demonstrates competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle outages/projects/assignments of moderate complexity.
Exhibits ability in the use of specifications and standards, codes and regulations in the application of equipment, materials, and tools utilized on the outage/project/assignment.
Demonstrates ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes and/or outage/project schedule.
Participates in the planning of outages/projects/assignments.
Proficient in use of scheduling techniques for budget and planning activities.
Demonstrates ability to work beyond routine assignments by solving problems of moderate complexity.
Develops, reviews, or presents technical reports such as improvement requisitions, studies and analysis, clearly, concisely and effectively.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR NUCLEAR SPECIALIST (SG 7):
Education requirements are listed below:
Bachelor’s degree in project management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Biology or Chemistry,
Or associate degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited school with five (5) years nuclear experience.
Or high school diploma / GED with nine (9) years of experience in the nuclear industry.
Typically, a non-degreed engineering position.

Bachelor’s degree in project management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Biology or Chemistry,
Or associate degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited school with eight (8) years nuclear experience.
Or high school diploma / GED with twelve (12) years of experience in the nuclear industry.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Physical demand level is Sedentary
Effective writing and verbal communication skills
Broad knowledge of nuclear standards, policies and procedures
Demonstrates problem solving skills.
Physical Demands:
May perform walk downs in plant environment which may include exposure to heat, cold, noise, and radiation exposure.
Perform duties that may involve work in hazardous areas and possible radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the NRC.
Must establish & maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe driving distance to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant.
Salary Range posted from minimum - mid-point:
Nuclear Specialist (SG 07) – Nuclear Specialist, Sr. (SG 08): $83,413.00 - $122,491.00
