About News Intern - Spring 2024

As an intern in our news department, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned journalists and gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of news reporting.

  Internship Overview:

  Are you a news enthusiast with a passion for storytelling and a keen interest in staying up-to-date with current events? If so, we want you on our team! As a News Department Intern, you will have the chance to contribute to the creation of compelling news stories, assist in research, conduct interviews, and witness the behind-the-scenes workings of a newsroom.

  Responsibilities: No day is the same. If you excel in an active, fast-moving environment and have the drive to learn the many different areas of News production, this position is perfect for you You will work with reporters, anchors, producers, editors, and photographers, in-house and out in the field You will receive training on various topics including how to produce a news segment from the control room, how to research and pitch a great story, how to operate camera equipment, what shots matter, and more Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or be considered a recent graduate Must be at least in your sophomore year of an accredited college/university Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. Willing to work approximately 15 hours a week for 10 weeks, beginning in January 2024 There may be a variety in hours due to our news programming schedules Must be at least 18 years of age Must have reliable transportation and be able to work from our San Antonio, TX location What You'll Gain: Hands-on experience in news reporting and journalism Exposure to the inner workings of a newsroom Networking opportunities with seasoned professionals in the industry Portfolio building with published work Mentoring and guidance from experienced journalistsJoin us in delivering impactful stories that inform and inspire!
