JOB SUMMARY: Management, supervision, and direction of all activities within the clinical laboratory. Must have basic knowledge of test procedures and related disease processes, recognizing appropriate test selection and abnormal test results; comply with safety practices and ethical standards; follow procedural guidelines for quality control monitoring, computer applications, instrumentation trouble-shooting, and specimen collection/processing; prioritize work to maintain maximum efficiency and standard of care; responsible for training new CTM and new procedures; assist with cost control; ensures daily quality controls/instrument maintenance are preformed. Maintains Quality Assurance/monthly maintenance manuals; recognize technical problems/suggest solutions; understand life span growth/development to interpret data and provide age-appropriate care. Ensures adherence to the Corporate Compliance Program. Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate degree in a physical, chemical, biological science from an approved school of Medical Laboratory Technicians. Military certification acceptable. (Can hire MLT student with Director’s approval and allow them to work in areas where they have completed their clinical training.)
Experience: Actual work experience is preferred
License/Registration: MLT(ASCP) registration or equivalent preferred
Other: Must be an effective and functional team player exhibiting loyalty and support for the laboratory. Professionalism, integrity, and effective interaction and communication with customers and colleagues expected. Must adhere to hospital and departmental policies regarding confidentiality
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS Requires range of motion within functional limits including bending, stooping, stretching, kneeling, squatting and moderate periods of sitting, standing or walking. Requires functional vision and hearing ; eye-hand coordination and manual/finger dexterity. Moderate keyboard usage and monitor observation required.
