The Cross-Domain Battle Management Group is seeking innovative andhard-working professionals with a degree in a technical field to work with ourColorado Springs team. As a Missile Defense Engineer, your responsibilities in our team include...Conducting research and development activities creating concepts that identifyand fill gaps in the U.S. Defense systemsImplementing novel algorithms that redefine the state of the art in ournation's defensive systemsDeveloping sophisticated Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning approachesfor solving complex problemsCrafting novel data fusion, object tracking, and discriminationimprovements for distributed defensive conceptsUsing advanced programming languages to develop and test technical solutionsDeveloping prototype capabilities and working with real-world systems totransition ideas to fielded systemsTesting contractor algorithm implementation against government performancerequirementsEffectively communicating technical recommendations to APL leadership,government sponsors, and the engineering communityContributing to a dynamic group culture that values participation incollaborative teams and activities, and dedication to continualimprovement, innovation, and risk-takingQualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...Have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering,Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, orsimilar degrees.Are skilled in and/or can build programming skills in MATLAB, C++,C, Python, Java, or similar.Hold an active Secret security clearance with the ability to ultimately obtaina Top Secret clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a governmentsecurity investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classifiedinformation. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.Have the willingness to travel under 10% of the time as needed.You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...Have working knowledge of configuration management tools.Have domain knowledge of Navy, Missile Defense Agency, or Air Force systems.Have a final Top Secret clearance.Base pay will take into account the selected candidate's knowledge,experience, skill and/or abilities with consideration for internal parity.APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policyand/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided inthe form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance ordiscretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides acomprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off,medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability,long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance andtraining and development. Base pay range for this role: $85,000 to $170,000.
